چکیده

Geographic routing protocols base their forwarding decisions on the location of the current device, its neighbors, and the packets destination. Early proposed heuristic greedy routing algorithms might fail even if there is a path from source to destination. In recent years several recovery strategies have been proposed in order to overcome such greedy routing failures. Planar graph traversal was the first of those strategies that does not require packet duplication and memorizing past routing tasks. This article introduces a novel recovery strategy based on the idea of planar graph traversal but performing routing tasks along geographical clusters instead of individual nodes. The planar graph construction method discovered so far needs one-hop neighbor information only, but may produce disconnection even if there is a path from source to destination. However, simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is a good choice from a practical point of view, since disconnection does only concern sparse networks, while in dense network the proposed algorithm competes with existing solutions and even outperforms planar graph routing methods based on one-hop neighbor information. This paper finally gives an outline of further research directions which show that geographical clusters may be the key to solve some problems that come along with planar graph routing in wireless

Geographical Cluster based Routing with Guaranteed Delivery

Exploring the faces of a planar graph is a prominent approach to recover from routing failures which may occur during geographic greedy forwarding heuristics. A recently studied variant of planar graph based recovery, termed geographical cluster based routing, performs face exploration along the edges of an overlay graph instead of using the network links directly. For this routing variant it h...

Efficient Greedy Geographical Non-Planar Routing with Rreactive Deflection

We present a novel geographical routing scheme for spontaneous wireless mesh networks. Greedy geographical routing has many advantages, but suffers from packet losses occurring at the border of voids. In this paper, we propose a flexible greedy routing scheme that can be adapted to any variant of geographical routing and works for any connectivity graph, not necessarily Unit Disk Graphs. The id...

Topological Cluster-based Geographic Routing in Multihop Ad Hoc Networks

Existing geographic routing algorithms face serious challenges due to location errors, nonplanarity issues and overhead of location service. To solve these issues, we propose Topological Cluster Based Geographic Routing that combines topology-based routing and geographic routing. It is a localized routing scheme where the geographic routing is performed on an overlay network of topological clus...

Energy-Aware Georouting with Guaranteed Delivery in Wireless Sensor Networks with Obstacles

We propose, EtE, a novel end-to-end localized routing protocol for wireless sensor networks that is energy-efficient and guarantees delivery. To forward a packet, a node s in graph G computes the cost of the energy weighted shortest path between s and each of its neighbors in the forward direction towards the destination which minimizes the ratio of the cost of the shortest path to the progress...

Void traversal for efficient non-planar geometric routing

Geometric routing provides a scalable and efficient way to route messages in ad hoc networks if extensive routing information is unavailable. Such algorithms require a planar graph to guarantee message delivery. The routing techniques for such guarantee usually center around the traversal of planar faces of the graph. However, in realistic wireless networks existing planarization methods, if at...
